How We Work
Simple. Intentional. Confidential.
Metal Fab Parts exists to make sourcing custom metal fabrication straightforward, without turning your RFQ into a public listing or a data free-for-all.
This page explains, in plain English, how we work with buyers, how your information is handled, and how our policies fit together.
1. What Metal Fab Parts Is (and Is Not)
What we are:
- A human-led RFQ sourcing and coordination service
- Focused on connecting buyers with qualified U.S.-based fabrication shops
- Built for engineers, buyers, and operations teams who value discretion
What we are not:
- A manufacturing marketplace
- A mass RFQ blasting platform
- A data broker or reseller of RFQs
Every RFQ is reviewed by a person. Nothing is indiscriminately distributed.
2. Submitting an RFQ
When you submit an RFQ:
- We review your drawings, specs, quantities, and requirements
- We clarify open questions if needed
- We identify a small number of appropriate shops based on capability and fit
- We coordinate quotes and follow-up communication
There is no obligation to proceed after receiving a quote.
3. How Your Information Is Handled
Your information is treated as confidential by default.
- RFQs are shared intentionally, not broadcast
- Drawings and files are only shared when necessary for quoting
- We do not sell, rent, or repurpose RFQ data
Details are governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains what data we collect, how it’s used, and how long it’s retained.
4. Confidential & Sensitive Projects
Some projects require additional safeguards.
If your RFQ involves:
- Proprietary designs
- Sensitive commercial information
- Defense, aerospace, medical, or regulated applications
5. High-Risk & Regulated Work
For defense, ITAR, or other regulated projects:
- Projects are treated as controlled by default
- Only appropriate U.S.-based shops are considered
- Additional clarification or documentation may be required
We may decline RFQs that cannot be handled responsibly or compliantly.
Handling of these projects is guided by our internal NDA & High-Risk Industries standards, applied as needed.
6. Quotes, Pricing & Orders
- Quotes are issued by independent fabrication shops
- Pricing, lead times, and terms come directly from the supplier
- Any purchase order or production agreement is between you and the shop
Metal Fab Parts facilitates sourcing and communication but is not the manufacturer of record unless explicitly agreed in writing.
This structure is outlined in our Terms of Service.
7. Why This Approach Works
Buyers work with Metal Fab Parts because:
- RFQs are not commoditized
- Sensitive information stays controlled
- Shops are chosen for fit, not volume
- Communication stays human and direct
It’s a sourcing model designed for real manufacturing, not marketplaces.
8. How the Policies Fit Together
- Privacy Policy – explains how information is collected, used, and protected
- Terms of Service – defines scope, responsibilities, and limitations
- NDA & High-Risk Standards – applied when confidentiality or regulation requires it
Together, these policies support practical, low-friction sourcing with appropriate safeguards.
